My review has been disapproved, can you explain why?

Every review is different, so it's difficult to indicate why a review was disapproved. In general, the reasons are:

  • people did not actually play the course; they arrived and something went wrong and they couldn't play. Although we agree this is really annoying, we don't want to be a site where people can complain about anything. Our reviews are about the club and the course, so you need to have played it.
  • people were very upset by something - and this can be anything - so they decide to give very low ratings for this club. These ratings are very different from the average score and too low for us to accept. We understand you might be angry, but always try to give realistic ratings. A course shouldn't receive a rating of 1.0 or 2.0 if your wallet was stolen (for instance).
  • people - often with a steel status - are giving a golf club a 10.0 for all items. Often these reviews are not genuine and we then will reach out to these golfers.

Unfortunately, we sometimes have to disapprove reviews because they do not follow our guidelines. We understand that you might be angry or upset by this, but we never disapprove reviews lightly.

Before you reach out to us or start posting on sites like Trustpilot that we can't be trusted, please read the following reasons below carefully. If you still don't agree with our decision, reach out to us. Together we will discuss what is accepted and what is not.

Below the reasons are mentioned which can lead to disapproval of your review:

  • the review text must comply with our Terms and Conditions (in particular article 7) and our Editorial Policy;
  • the review text must consist of a minimum of 50 characters;
  • it is not allowed to promote a certain brand or company in a review;
  • reviews consisting of only 10.0s will be deactivated. We might allow a 10.0 if the user status is high enough (silver or gold) and the rating of the golf club is a 9+;
  • reviews consisting of only 1.0s (or close to that figure) are more of a complaint, they can be subject to deactivation and the text will be sent to the golf club;
  • reviews written during or slightly after a dispute with a golf club can be subject to removal if the objective of that review is to discredit the golf club (proof of a dispute needs to be handed over by the golf club);
  • reviews that aim to deliberately hurt a golf club - for example by posting the same review on multiple platforms - can be subject to deactivation;
  • reviews written by an employee of a golf club about that specific golf club will be deactivated;
  • the reviewer must have played the course, just being a visitor is not enough;
  • duplicate reviews of the same experience will be removed;
  • URLs will be removed from the text;
  • multiple punctuation marks will be removed from the text;
  • punctuation might be added to improve readability;
